On Monday, April 7, Mr Geoffrey Odundo is set to officially take over the reins as CEO of the Nation Media Group (NMG) following his appointment earlier in March this year.
Later, in mid-May, he will be among esteemed speakers at the annual forum of African CEOs to be held in Abidjan.
Odundo’s new role at the helm of NMG is all familiar territory for the seasoned investment banker and experienced leader of industry.
NMG, which is listed on the Nairobi Stock Exchange and based at the iconic Nation Centre-famously known as ‘Twin Towers’, was for several decades home of the NSE before its’ relocation to the affluent Westlands neighbourhood.
Odundo, 68 and father of 3 daughters, is expected to steer the organisation, East and Central Africa’s biggest media organisation, with footprints across Africa and which prides itself as a pan-africanist multi media House.
Previously, Mr. Odundo, who left the NSE last year, after a decade at the helm, had a stint at the CPF Financial Services as the group’s executive advisor.
Earlier, Odundo, who holds an MBA in Strategic Management and a B.A in Mathematics, served as the MD & CEO for Kingdom Securities, then a subsidiary of the Cooperative Bank.
With vast leadership experience over the past three decades, which included the founding of the Real Estate Investment Trust (RIETS Kenya chapter, where he is chairman), it remains to be seen how the new media industry captain, will navigate the dynamic media landscape and steer one of its giants, the NMG to solidifying its regional leadership and live to its mantra of Media of Africa for Africa.
The Business Report will be watching him keenly, among other industry captains.
